Chainlink, a decentralized oracle network that supplies offchain data to smart contracts, saw its token climb as a newly surfaced product for autonomous AI agents drew attention. The move extended momentum from a bullish rating by an analyst at Standard Chartered.
Chainlink's Token Gains as AI Agent Product Draws Attention
LINK closed the week up about 15%, at about $9.38. The token nevertheless remains down about 22% since the start of 2026 amid broader weakness across crypto markets.
AI agent access
The new product, called Chainlink for Agents, is live in beta, although the oracle provider doesn't appear to have issued a formal launch announcement. It allows AI agents to access verified data, execute transactions and move assets across blockchains using Chainlink infrastructure. Evidence of the product predates the recent attention, including developer materials updated in June.
Agentic AI refers to software able to make decisions and carry out tasks with limited human input. Connected to crypto infrastructure, agents could potentially trade, make payments and move assets autonomously, increasing the importance of reliable data and transaction execution. The product extends Chainlink's push beyond its core oracle feeds into cross-chain execution and other infrastructure intended to connect traditional and onchain finance.
Standard Chartered initiated coverage of LINK earlier in the week with a $200 end-2030 price target, citing growth in tokenization and demand for Chainlink's infrastructure.
Security, interoperability
"These assets will require trusted data, secure interoperability between networks, privacy-preserving compliance, and integration with existing financial systems; only Chainlink is currently equipped to provide all of these," Geoff Kendrick, the Standard Chartered analyst wrote in a research note dated 10 Aug. Key risks to that positive view include slower-than-expected growth in tokenization by institutional investors and the possibility of technical or configuration failures that could damage confidence in the broader platform, according to Kendrick.
Chainlink has previously said it benefited from a flow of traffic from other platforms after the KelpDAO bridge exploit in April rocked the DeFi sector. That incident has propelled security as a key selling point for Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).
