The US Senate delayed a vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act until after its August recess, Majority Leader John Thune confirmed on 6 Aug, according to Politico.

That may mean the first procedural vote won't take place before mid-September.
The biggest remaining obstacle is an ethics provision targeting President Donald Trump, who disclosed making more than $1.4bn from his crypto businesses in 2025. Trump had agreed to language brokered by Senator Cynthia Lummis, but Senate Democrats and Republican Thom Tillis said they had concerns. Tillis and Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego sent a counterproposal to the White House at the end of July; as of early 7 Aug it hadn't publicly responded.
Separately, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott, a Republican, told Fox News a vote on the legislation is coming "without any question" and suggested lawmakers could remain in Washington beyond the Senate's scheduled 7 Aug recess, if needed.
