Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), the family’s media and tech vehicle that trades on the Nasdaq as DJT, ended its planned digital-asset treasury venture with Crypto.com, the crypto exchange and financial-services platform, Axios reported.
Trump Media Ends Token, Prediction Market Deals with Crypto.com: Axios
TMTG, Crypto.com and a special purpose acquisition company Yorkville Acquisition Corp. terminated plans for a publicly traded company built to buy billions of dollars of Crypto.com’s Cronos (CRO) token, according to remarks published on Friday. The companies also dropped a plan to embed prediction-market contracts in Trump Media's social media platform, though they still aim to promote such contracts to social users.
The digital-asset treasury market has become saturated and prediction markets are already crowded, Axios cited interim CEO Kevin McGurn as saying.
The retreat reverses part of TMTG’s aggressive 2025 crypto expansion. The companies last year outlined a multibillion-dollar CRO treasury initiative, while TMTG separately planned to integrate CRO into Truth Social and Truth+ and use Crypto.com infrastructure across its growing financial-services business. CRO slid as much as about 14% between its 7 Aug high of $0.053 and the next day's low. It was trading at about $0.049 as at 14:14UTC on 9 Aug, marking an almost 90% slump since last August – when the arrangement was announced.
Yorkville's existing America First ETFs, branded as Truth Social Funds, will continue, Axios reported.
